Baudin's Black-Cockatoo is an endangered large cockatoo endemic to southwestern Australia, closely related to Carnaby's but distinguishable by its slightly longer upper mandible and different calls.
Where to spot
Wet sclerophyll forests and woodlands in the high rainfall zone of southwestern Western Australia.
How to spot
Very similar to Carnaby's; best distinguished by its habitat, call (a loud 'whurrah!'), and slightly longer upper beak. Look for white tail panels and white cheek patches. Listen for feeding sounds as they chew marri nuts.
When to spot
Active during the day. Observable year-round. Often found near marri trees during their fruiting season.
