The White-bellied Erpornis is a small, active bird with a distinctive white belly and greenish upperparts, often with yellow undertail coverts. It is highly arboreal, frequently seen gleaning insects and nectar from flowering trees.
Where to spot
Widely distributed across South and Southeast Asia, from the Himalayas to Indonesia. It inhabits various forest types, including evergreen, broadleaf, and even degraded forests, from lowlands to montane areas.
How to spot
Look for its small size, white belly, and active movements. It often gleans insects from leaves and flowers. Listen for its high-pitched, tinkling calls, which can be easily overlooked amidst other bird sounds.
When to spot
Active year-round throughout its extensive tropical and subtropical range. Most active during daylight hours, particularly in the mornings.
