The Western Greylag Goose is the nominate subspecies of the Greylag Goose, characterized by its robust build and powerful flight. It is considered the wild ancestor of most domestic goose breeds.
Where to spot
Breeds across Europe, from Scandinavia south to the Balkans. Winters further south, primarily in Western Europe and North Africa. Look for them in wetlands, agricultural lands, and coastal areas.
