The Tiny Batis is, as its name suggests, an exceptionally small and active forest bird. Males have a black mask, white supercilium, and a narrow black breast band, with females featuring a rufous breast band.
Where to spot
Found in Central Africa, including parts of Cameroon, Gabon, and Congo. Inhabits lowland rainforests and mature secondary forests.
How to spot
Search the understory and mid-story of dense forests. Its extremely small size is a key identification feature. Listen for its high-pitched, thin 'tseep-tseep' calls, which help in detection.
