The Striated Grassbird is a large and distinctive grassbird species found across South and Southeast Asia, and parts of Australia. It is characterized by its heavily streaked plumage.
Where to spot
Widespread across South Asia, Southeast Asia, New Guinea, and Australia, inhabiting tall grasslands, reedbeds, sugar cane fields, and dense wetland vegetation.
How to spot
Focus on tall, dense grasslands and marshy areas. Listen for its loud, harsh, and often varied song. It can sometimes be seen perched atop tall grass stems or reeds, especially when singing.
When to spot
Year-round resident in most areas. Most active and vocal during the breeding season (varies regionally), especially in the mornings and evenings.
