Found in West and Central Africa, inhabiting primary and secondary rainforests, often at higher elevations within the forest canopy.
How to spot
Look for its distinctive pale spots on the wings, which are its most striking feature. Scan the mid-story and canopy of the forest. Listen for its high-pitched, often repetitive calls.
When to spot
Observable year-round in its non-migratory range. Most active during the day, especially in the early morning and late afternoon.
