The Shining Honeycreeper is a small, dazzling bird. Males are a brilliant iridescent blue with a black mask and wings, and bright yellow legs. Females are green. It has a slender, decurved bill.
Where to spot
Humid lowland and foothill forests from southern Mexico south to western Panama.

Look for it actively foraging for nectar and small insects in the mid-canopy. The male's bright blue, black mask, and yellow legs are good identification points.

Year-round resident. Most active in the early morning, often visiting flowering trees.
