Where to spot
Found in northern South America, including Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. It inhabits tropical moist montane and foothill forests.
How to spot
An extremely challenging bird to observe. Focus on the mid-story and canopy of dense montane forests. Listen intently for any calls, as visual sightings are often brief.
When to spot
Observations are very scarce. Like other forest raptors, it is active during daylight hours, but specific patterns are not well documented.
