Sclater's Wren is a medium-sized wren found in the Pacific lowlands of Central America, closely related to the Spot-breasted Wren. It is known for its active foraging and vocal nature.
Where to spot
Inhabits humid lowland forests and forest edges along the Pacific slope of Central America, from southwestern Costa Rica to western Panama.
How to spot
Listen for its loud, clear, and often musical song. Look for a medium-sized wren foraging in dense undergrowth or low trees along the Pacific slope. Similar to the Spot-breasted Wren, but with a more localized range.
When to spot
A year-round resident. Most active and vocal during the early morning and late afternoon.
This wren is named after Philip Sclater, a renowned British ornithologist who made significant contributions to the study of Neotropical birds.
