Salvadori's Seedeater is a localized species with an olive-green back and yellowish underparts, particularly on the throat. Males are brighter than females.
Where to spot
Found in central Ethiopia. It inhabits montane grasslands, open woodlands, and bushy ravines at high altitudes.
How to spot
Scan dense scrub and grassy patches in montane areas. Listen for their short, simple calls. Patience is needed due to their elusive nature.
When to spot
Visible year-round in its restricted range. Best observed during the breeding season when activity and singing are highest.
Named after Tommaso Salvadori, an Italian ornithologist, this species is relatively shy and often keeps to dense vegetation.
