Where to spot
Found in parts of Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Inhabits dense undergrowth of lowland and hill evergreen forests, particularly in damp areas or near bamboo.
How to spot
Listen for its quiet, often bubbling or chattering calls emanating from dense cover. Look for subtle movements in the leaf litter. The rufous undertail-coverts are the most reliable identification feature if a clear view is obtained.
