The Pygmy White-eye is a very small and active bird endemic to the Philippines. It is known for its diminutive size and industrious foraging.
Where to spot
Endemic to the Philippines, found on various islands including Mindanao, Leyte, Samar, and Biliran. Inhabits lowland and montane broadleaf forests.
How to spot
Its tiny size and generally plain yellowish-green plumage with a faint white eye-ring are key. Often found in mixed-species flocks, moving rapidly through the canopy. Listen for its high-pitched, thin calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Active during the day, particularly mornings and late afternoons.
As its name suggests, it is one of the smallest species of white-eye, often appearing no larger than a thumb in the forest canopy.
