Spotted
The Pohnpei White-eye is a species endemic to the island of Pohnpei in Micronesia. It is a small, bright yellowish-green bird with a prominent white eye-ring.
Where to spot
Endemic to Pohnpei Island, Federated States of Micronesia, inhabiting native forests and forest edges.
How to spot
Look for small, bright, active birds with a white eye-ring, often moving in small groups through the foliage. Their calls are typical white-eye chirps and trills.
When to spot
Active year-round, especially during early mornings and late afternoons when foraging.
This species is a good indicator of the health of Pohnpei's native forests, which are under pressure from habitat degradation.
