Where to spot
Found across northern and central South America, including parts of Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, and Peru. It inhabits humid lowland forests and secondary growth.
How to spot
Listen for its distinctive, often repetitive, rapid calls and songs, which are often the best way to locate this visually inconspicuous bird. Scan the mid-story of humid forests patiently.
When to spot
Active year-round in its resident tropical lowland habitat. Most vocal during the breeding season. Best observed in the early morning.
Greenlets are generally very active foragers, constantly moving through the foliage to glean insects, making them important members of their forest ecosystems.
