Spotted
The Orange-barred Leaf Warbler is a small, attractive warbler with a distinct yellowish-orange wing bar, yellowish underparts, and olive-green upperparts. It is an active inhabitant of montane forests.
Where to spot
Found in montane forests, often in rhododendron and conifer mixes, across parts of the Himalayas and China.
How to spot
Search in the mid-to-upper canopy of montane forests. Look for its active movements and try to catch a glimpse of the wing bar. Its calls are also distinctive.
When to spot
Year-round in resident populations, with some altitudinal movements. Migratory in northern parts, moving to lower elevations in winter.
Its 'orange' wing bar can sometimes appear more yellowish or rufous depending on the light and individual variation, adding to the subtlety of its beauty.
