Spotted
Oberlaender's Ground Thrush is an extremely rare and poorly known thrush from West Africa. It has a rather plain olive-brown plumage and is highly secretive.
Where to spot
Dense lowland rainforests of West Africa, primarily in Liberia, Ivory Coast, and Ghana.
How to spot
Requires immense luck and dedicated fieldwork in remote, undisturbed rainforests. Focus on the forest floor. Detection often relies on accidental sightings or knowledge of its calls (if known).
When to spot
Year-round resident. Given its rarity, any time it might be active (dawn/dusk) would be opportunistic.
This thrush is considered one of Africa's most enigmatic birds, with very few confirmed sightings or biological details known due to its elusive nature and remote habitat.
