The Merida Wren is a localized wren species endemic to the high-altitude páramo and humid montane forests of the Venezuelan Andes. It is a secretive and active bird.

Endemic to the Andes of western Venezuela, particularly in the páramo, sub-páramo, and humid montane forests at high elevations in Mérida state.
How to spot
Requires visiting the high-altitude habitats of the Venezuelan Andes. Listen for its distinctive songs and calls. Look for it foraging low in dense scrub or near rocky outcrops.
When to spot
A year-round resident. Most active and vocal during the early morning, especially during the breeding season.
Its restricted range in the unique páramo ecosystem makes it a special species of the high Andes, adapted to cool, misty conditions.
