Where to spot
Widespread in humid lowland and foothill forests, forest edges, secondary growth, plantations, and gardens in northern South America.
How to spot
Look for it in fruiting trees and at feeders. The black mask and vibrant blue/yellow body make it easy to identify.
When to spot
Active year-round. Most observable in the early morning and late afternoon when foraging.
This tanager's diet includes a significant amount of fruit, playing a role in seed dispersal in its habitat.
