The Malaysian Cuckooshrike is a species found on the Malay Peninsula, similar in appearance to the Indian Cuckooshrike. It inhabits lowland and hill forests.
Where to spot
Found on the Malay Peninsula, inhabiting primary and secondary lowland and hill forests, as well as forest edges.
How to spot
Look for it in forested areas. Pay attention to subtle plumage differences and listen for its calls to distinguish it from similar species in the region.
When to spot
Active throughout the day, typically seen in the mid-to-upper canopy. It is a resident species, observable year-round.
This species, like several other cuckooshrikes in the region, was formerly lumped with the Indian Cuckooshrike (Coracina macei) but is now often treated as a distinct species.
