Restricted to high-altitude montane forests on the Kabobo Massif in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

Extremely difficult to observe due to its rarity, limited habitat, and political instability in the region. Requires dedicated expeditions with local guides. Listen for any unique vocalizations.

Year-round resident within its extremely limited range. Any sighting is of great scientific and conservation importance.
The Kabobo Apalis is named after the Kabobo Massif in the Democratic Republic of Congo, its only known locality, making it one of the most geographically restricted and vulnerable bird species.
