The Himalayan Accentor is a hardy passerine bird native to the high-altitude regions of Central Asia and the Himalayas. It is well-adapted to cold, rocky environments, often seen foraging on the ground.
Where to spot
High-altitude mountain ranges of Central Asia, including the Himalayas, Tibet, and parts of China, typically above the tree line in rocky, sparsely vegetated areas.
How to spot
Look for it hopping on the ground or among rocks. Its streaked plumage provides excellent camouflage. Binoculars are recommended for spotting these often shy birds in their vast mountain habitats.
When to spot
Primarily during the summer months at higher elevations for breeding; descends to lower altitudes in winter, though still favouring rocky habitats.
