Where to spot
Endemic to specific high-altitude scrub and Polylepis woodlands in the Andes of Peru, making it a highly localized species.
How to spot
Requires visiting specific high-elevation areas with Polylepis forests. Look for it actively foraging in the stunted trees and dense bushes.
When to spot
Active during daylight hours, particularly in the morning. It is a resident species, observable year-round.
