Spotted
The Guianan Tyrannulet is a small, relatively plain flycatcher with olive-green upperparts and yellowish underparts. It is a characteristic bird of the Guiana Shield's humid forests.
Where to spot
Distributed across the Guianas (Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana) and adjacent parts of Venezuela and Brazil. It inhabits humid lowland evergreen forests.
How to spot
Scan the mid to upper canopy of humid forests. Look for its small size and relatively plain coloration. Its high-pitched, simple 'seet' calls are often the best clue to its presence, as it can blend in with the foliage.
When to spot
A permanent resident in its range. Most active during the morning and late afternoon, when insect activity is higher.

Despite its somewhat drab appearance, this tyrannulet is an active forager, often seen hovering or making quick sallies to capture insects from the underside of leaves.
