Where to spot
Endemic to central India. Inhabits tall grasslands, cane fields, and reedbeds, often near water.
How to spot
Look for it moving through dense grass. Its small size and secretive nature make it challenging, but listen for its high-pitched calls.
When to spot
Year-round. Best observed during the breeding season when males are more vocal and conspicuous.
