Spotted
The Grey-cheeked Warbler is a small, active warbler, characterized by its greyish face and cheeks, contrasting with olive-green upperparts and yellowish underparts. It inhabits montane forests.
Where to spot
Found in montane evergreen forests across parts of the Himalayas, Southeast Asia, and China.
How to spot
Look for active foraging in the mid-to-upper canopy of montane forests. Its grey cheeks are a good visual cue, and its high-pitched calls are often heard.
When to spot
Year-round in resident populations, with some altitudinal movements. Migratory in northern parts, moving to lower elevations in winter.
This warbler is known for its rapid, insect-gleaning movements through the mid-canopy, constantly searching for small invertebrates.
