Bokermann's Helmeted Manakin is a small, brightly colored manakin, with males sporting a vibrant blue body and a red 'helmet' on the head. It is endemic to the Atlantic Forest.
Where to spot
Humid Atlantic Forest, primary and mature secondary forests, in southeastern Brazil.
How to spot
Look for males at active leks. Their bright plumage makes them conspicuous once located. Listen for their distinctive 'preeee-o' calls and watch for their jumping displays.
When to spot
Year-round. Lekking activity is most prominent during the breeding season (austral spring and summer). Best observed in early mornings.
