The Black-capped Bulbul is a handsome species, characterized by its glossy black head (or cap) that sharply contrasts with its bright yellow throat and underparts, and an olive-green back. It is a common forest bird.
Where to spot
Found in forests, woodlands, and gardens across Southeast Asia, including parts of the Indian subcontinent, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia.
How to spot
Look in trees and shrubs, particularly near fruiting plants. Its contrasting colors make it relatively easy to spot, and its calls are quite distinct.
When to spot
Year-round, as it is a common resident species.
This bulbul is highly agile, often seen hanging upside down to extract fruits or insects from branches, demonstrating impressive acrobatic feeding skills.
