The Aceh Bulbul is a relatively recent discovery, an endemic species found in the montane forests of Aceh Province on Sumatra. It is a large, sturdy bulbul with a distinct vocalization.

Endemic to the montane forests of Aceh Province, northern Sumatra, Indonesia.
How to spot
Observation requires visiting specific high-altitude forest areas in Aceh. Look for it foraging in the canopy, and listen for its unique calls, which are distinct from similar species.
When to spot
Year-round, as it is a resident species within its restricted montane habitat.
Its discovery highlights the rich and still largely unexplored biodiversity of Sumatra's remote montane regions.
