Where to spot
Found in southern Africa, mainly South Africa and Lesotho. It inhabits fynbos, montane grasslands, and forest edges.
How to spot
Look for the subtle spotting on its underparts, which helps distinguish it from similar prinias. Listen for its sharp, buzzing calls.
When to spot
A year-round resident. It is most active in the early morning and late afternoon.
This species was formerly considered a subspecies of the Karoo Prinia, but vocalizations and genetic data led to its reclassification as a distinct species.
