Where to spot
Inhabits humid lowland forests, forest edges, and mature secondary growth in the Guianas and parts of northern Brazil and eastern Venezuela.
How to spot
Listen for its distinctive, often repetitive song emanating from dense undergrowth. Look for a small, plain brown wren foraging actively in thickets, often difficult to spot.
When to spot
A year-round resident. Most active and vocal during the early morning and late afternoon.
Its 'guarayanus' specific epithet refers to the Guiana Shield region, where a significant portion of its range is located.
