The Greyish Miner is a small, pale terrestrial bird found in arid coastal areas. Its plumage is a subtle greyish-brown, providing excellent camouflage against sandy or rocky backgrounds.
Where to spot
Endemic to the arid coastal deserts and semi-desert scrub of Peru and northern Chile.
How to spot
Look for it foraging on the ground in open, sandy or gravelly areas. Its pale, camouflaged plumage requires keen eyes, so watch for subtle movements.
When to spot
Active year-round, primarily during the day. Most active during the cooler parts of the morning and late afternoon.
It often nests in burrows excavated in sandy banks or soft ground, providing protection from predators and extreme temperatures.
