Spotted
The Brown-capped Tody-Tyrant is a small and inconspicuous flycatcher, typically found in the humid forests of the Amazon basin. Its subdued coloration provides excellent camouflage amidst the foliage.
Where to spot
Inhabits the understory and mid-story of humid lowland rainforests across a wide range in Amazonian South America, including parts of Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia.
How to spot
Look carefully in the dense undergrowth for a small, active bird. Identifying its short, sharp vocalizations is often the most reliable way to find this elusive species.
When to spot
Observable throughout the year during daytime. Activity may peak in early mornings and late afternoons.
Like many tody-tyrants, it specializes in capturing insects by sallying from a perch to snatch prey from leaves or branches.
