Where to spot
Dry woodlands, particularly miombo and acacia woodlands, and dense scrub in Southern Africa.

Look for the clear barring on its breast and belly and its wren-like posture. It can be elusive in dense cover. Listen for its distinctive, often high-pitched, buzzing or churring song.

Year-round resident. Most active in the mornings. Breeding usually occurs during the austral spring/summer.
