Spotted
This hybrid results from the interbreeding of the Bar-headed Goose and the Greylag Goose. Such crosses are relatively common in captive environments and can occasionally be seen in feral populations where both parent species exist.
Where to spot
Primarily found in zoological collections, waterfowl parks, and private aviaries worldwide. Occasionally observed in wild or feral populations where Bar-headed Geese have escaped or introduced and interbred with wild or domestic Greylags.
How to spot
Look for a mix of features: the pale grey body and orange legs of a Greylag, combined with varying degrees of the black head bars characteristic of the Bar-headed Goose. The bill might be intermediate in color and shape.
When to spot
Observable year-round, especially in captive or park settings.
