Spotted
The Amazonian Inezia is a small, subtle flycatcher with olive-grey upperparts and pale underparts. It is found in humid lowland forests of the Amazon basin.
Where to spot
Distributed widely across the Amazon basin in Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia. It inhabits humid lowland evergreen forests, secondary growth, and forest edges.
How to spot
Scan the mid-story and understory of humid Amazonian forests. Look for its small size and relatively plain plumage. Its soft, high-pitched, somewhat buzzy calls are often the best clue to its presence.
When to spot
A permanent resident in its range. Most active during the morning hours, often joining mixed-species foraging flocks.
This species can be quite elusive, often staying hidden in dense foliage, making its distinctive high-pitched vocalizations crucial for its detection in the vast Amazonian forests.
