Spotted
A striking robin known for its bright rufous belly and bluish upperparts (male). It is a secretive inhabitant of high-altitude scrub.
Where to spot
Dense scrub and undergrowth in montane forests, typically at high elevations in the Himalayas.
How to spot
Listen for its soft, whistled song. It tends to stay hidden, so patient waiting near dense thickets is recommended.
When to spot
Best observed during the breeding season (summer) when vocal activity is highest. Migrates to lower elevations in winter.
The rufous underparts provide a splash of color, especially noticeable when it perches low to the ground in its dense habitat.
