Spotted
The Ashy-breasted Tailorbird is a small and relatively drab tailorbird primarily found in insular Southeast Asia. It typically inhabits the lower strata of forests.
Where to spot
Found on the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo, and other smaller islands in Southeast Asia. It occurs in primary and secondary forests, often close to the forest floor.
How to spot
Watch for small, quick movements in dense tangles and low vegetation. It can be quite shy, so quiet observation and considerable patience are essential for a good view.
When to spot
A year-round resident. It is best observed during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning, when it is more active.
Unlike some of its more colorful relatives, its subdued plumage helps it blend seamlessly into the dense forest undergrowth, making it quite inconspicuous.
