Archbold's Robin is a distinctive and rare bird endemic to the highest peaks of New Guinea. It is characterized by its dull olive-brown plumage, relatively long legs, and a preference for very high-altitude grasslands.
Where to spot
Endemic to the highest mountain ranges of New Guinea, particularly the Central Cordillera, found in alpine and subalpine grasslands and sparse scrub above the treeline (typically above 3,500 meters).
How to spot
Requires visiting remote, high-altitude alpine grasslands. Look for a relatively large, dull robin foraging on the ground or perched on low tussocks. Its calls are distinctive, often a repeated, clear whistle.

Resident year-round. Active during daylight hours. Its specific high-altitude habitat means colder weather. Best observed during calm, clear weather periods.
